Roadking Manufacturing · Big Valley · Farm implements

Implements for tillage, cane and row crops

Seventeen Big Valley implements, from linkage disc harrows and deep rippers to cane bed formers, fertiliser placement and centre pivot rut closers. All are built by Roadking in Camperdown, KwaZulu-Natal, for South African soils and South African farming.

The range

One works, from primary tillage to the cane interrow

Big Valley is Roadking’s range of farm implements, designed and built at its works in Camperdown, KwaZulu-Natal. The range follows the season: disc harrows and ploughs to open and work the land, rippers to break compaction, bed formers and ridgers to lay out the rows, planting and fertiliser machines to establish the crop, and interrow, slashing and pivot implements to look after it.

Most machines bolt together from graded S355J steel, Benox and Hardox wear parts and sealed SKF hubs, so worn parts are replaced on the farm rather than the whole implement. Many can be ordered mounted or trailed, and with the discs, tines, rollers and options that suit your ground.

Sugar cane gets particular attention. The bed formers, ridgers, ratoon interrow harrow, Jumbo fertiliser machine and TracMaster were all developed for cane and row-crop farming in KwaZulu-Natal.

Tractor power across the range

Most of the range is chosen by the tractor that will pull it. The bars show the suggested tractor power for each implement, from the smallest model in a series to the largest. Where a brochure gives horsepower only, we have converted it to kilowatts.

Big Valley BL22

Offset disc harrow · linkage mounted

A three-point linkage harrow for smaller tractors

The BL22 series is an offset gang disc harrow that mounts on the tractor’s three-point linkage, so there is no undercarriage to tow and it turns tightly on small lands and headlands. Two gangs run on 40 mm high-carbon round disc shafts, each carried on two oil-bath self-aligning roller bearings in sealed cages.

Big Valley Compact Disc

High-speed disc harrow · mounted or trailed

Save time, save labour, save money

On the Big Valley Compact Disc every disc runs on its own sealed, maintenance-free 168 mm SKF bearing hub and individual leg, so the harrow stays smooth at speed and a hub can be changed in the field in under 10 minutes. Flexible leg mounts reduce chassis stress and cut disc cracking from obstacle strikes, the compact layout cancels out rocking for an even tilth, and the rear roller breaks up clods and closes the ground to hold moisture.

It is available as a mounted or a foldaway trailed harrow, with a choice of rear rollers.

Floating wheels keep the drive on the ground when a tine rides over a hard patch, so application is not interrupted, and they let you run more than two units on one toolbar without linking drive shafts. In maize that means six or eight rows fertilised while scarifying in the same pass.

Manufacturing

Designed and built in Camperdown

Roadking Manufacturing (Pty) Ltd designs and builds heavy equipment at its works in Camperdown, KwaZulu-Natal — road graders, trailers, tankers, trenchers and the Big Valley range of agricultural implements — with distribution across Africa and internationally. The company holds Level 4 B-BBEE accreditation.

Big Valley implements are built from graded S355J steel with Benox, Hardox and Roqtuf wear parts and sealed SKF bearing hubs, and most are bolted together so that worn parts can be replaced in the field.
